"Hi, it’s Pat from Cedar Coast...
This 'How Do We Do It' feature highlights one of our favourite cottage upgrades: a properly built screen porch.
On this cottage, the screen porch is insulated right in the ceiling. Why? Because insulation plays a key role in keeping the space comfortable during the summer months. As the sun heats the roof, continuous ventilation at the eaves and ridge allows hot air to escape, while the insulation prevents that heat from penetrating into the porch below. The result is a noticeably cooler, more enjoyable space on hot Muskoka days.
There’s also a long-term benefit. If the owners ever decide to convert this screened porch into a fully enclosed room, the insulation is already in place - saving time, cost, and disruption down the road.
That’s how we do it: building with comfort, performance, and future flexibility in mind. Thanks for watching and following along."
