Sparrow Lake - Foundation
This family lakeside cottage is moving into its next phase!
The foundation is complete, columns are in place for the future sunroom, porches, and deck. Granite screenings are being packed for a solid stone patio base. Drainage is also being installed to protect the foundation long-term.
It’s a busy, noisy morning on Sparrow Lake as we move into the next exciting phase of this build. Between drilling the well and slinging in stone, the site is buzzing with activity! The foundation is now complete, and the structural columns are in place to support the future sunroom, porches, and deck area above.
At the front of the foundation, we’re placing high-quality granite screenings into the frost wall area. This material will be carefully compacted using a plate tamper to ensure a solid, stable base.
Once packed, this area will become a stone patio, so proper compaction is essential to prevent any future settling.
We’ve also installed drainage at the base of the wall to ensure water is directed safely away from the foundation. Proper drainage is a critical step in protecting the long-term integrity of the structure by preventing moisture buildup around the foundation.
