Located on beautiful Lake Muskoka, this custom CedarCoast home was built on a property the family has cherished since 1960. Designed as a retirement retreat, the cottage blends timeless Muskoka character with modern comfort, accessibility, and space for a growing family.
Classic Muskoka Exterior
The home features rough-sawn cedar bevel siding, chunky cedar corner trims, and natural Muskoka granite integrated into the landscaping. A timber truss anchors the front elevation, complemented by Douglas fir soffits, cedar shakes, and granite stonework around the foundation skirt.
Loewen aluminum-clad windows - Douglas fir inside and aluminum outside - offer durability with minimal maintenance, while 20-foot-tall great room windows frame expansive lake views.
Generous decks with glass railings create ideal entertaining spaces, connecting seamlessly to the sunroom and main living areas.
Designed for Entertaining
Inside, the vaulted great room showcases exposed Douglas fir timber framing, clear pine walls, and a striking stone fireplace - the heart of the home. Large windows flood the space with natural light year-round.
The kitchen was thoughtfully designed for gathering and functionality, featuring granite countertops, a custom cabinet layout, dual ovens for busy holidays, and a pop-out herb window that adds both charm and practicality. The adjacent dining room opens directly to the deck and lake views through a wide, three panel glass door.
A Four-Season Sunroom
Instead of a traditional screened Muskoka room, the homeowners opted for a fully insulated sunroom. With windows on all sides and a cozy fireplace, it’s a bright, comfortable retreat used year-round.
Main-Floor Living for the Future
Designed as an aging-in-place retirement home, the principal suite, laundry, and all essential living spaces are located on the main floor. Wide doorways allow for future accessibility, and the layout ensures long-term comfort.
Upstairs, additional bedrooms, a loft with panoramic lake views, and a spacious bunk room (formerly a billiards room) provide plenty of room for children and grandchildren — making this truly a multi-generational family cottage.
If you’re considering building or redeveloping a property in Muskoka, having that early conversation can make the entire process smoother and more enjoyable.
