How long does it take to build a log or timber frame home?Of course it depends on the size and complexity of the home, but generally the total construction time from excavation to move-in is roughly 5 to 7 months. Prior to construction, design and blueprints need to be done, along with site preparation, permits and other township requirements. The design phase timeline really depends on the complexity of the house and at what stage people are at when they come to us. Most people find a plan from a magazine that they like and believe that with a few modifications it will perfect. However, when we take them through our design process, they quickly learn that their plan really does not suit their lifestyle or their lot, or both and they're grateful that someone took the time to properly design their home. This process can take as little as a few weeks, or several months. Engineering blueprints and construction drawings will add a few more weeks, depending on complexity. We encourage people to begin planning as early as possible. |
