What about foundations for timber homes?

We use mostly full basement or crawl space (3 to 5 feet of height), built with concrete footings and concrete block or poured concrete walls. We can build our homes on any kind of foundation though - slab-on-grade, wood foundations, insulated block, piers, etc.
